About Sophia Rose 
My background covers 30 years of diverse experience in the social work, health care, recreational therapy and sales fields, with a degree in psychology and nursing and ongoing professional development. I hold certifications as a Clinical Hypnotherapist, NLP Practitioner, Time Line Therapist, Reiki Master, and in Cellular Reprogramming and Dr. Eric Pearl's Reconnective Healing. I was licensed as a massage therapist in 1985 and practiced for 10 years, and studied numerous styles of body-centered psychotherapy, energy work and intuitive arts. After training with Global Ministries, I became an ordained lay minister with a New Thought, cross-cultural orientation.Prior to starting my therapy practice in 1991, I was a nurse, social worker, statewide trainer and consultant for the Oregon Mental Health Division, serving the elderly, children, disenfranchised families and disabled populations. Out of San Diego, I promoted Anthony Robbins seminars to businesses and worked throughout California as a trainer and motivational speaker for a sales and personal development training company. At the other end of the spectrum, I've also lived a colorful, unconventional life from my formative years being the radical 60's and 70's, leading me to communes, eastern mysticism, outrageous creative expression, paranormal experiences, alternative lifestyles and new paradigms. Explorations in the expressive arts include improvisational theater and movement, costume and mask designing, performance art, clowning, mime, singing, drumming and various styles of dance. Extensive travel in various cultures has given me a perspective on the world's rich, artistic traditions, where art is an integral part of life. Some of the great teachers I've been influenced by are Ram Dass, Matthew Fox, Jack Kornfield, Marianne Williamson, Joseph Cambpell, John Gray, Caroline Myss, Dr. Larry Dossey, Barbara Brennan, Donna Eden, Jean Houston, Arny Mindell, Joan Borysenko and John Bradshaw. My life journey has been tremendously instrumental in inspiring my mission and ability to assist others to evolve, and I have learned as much from life's lessons and my own recovery process, and my clients, as from my formal education. I have personally dealt with and overcome childhood abuse and neglect, long-term depression and anxiety, low self-esteem, a teenage suicide attempt and hospitalization, high school drug addiction, rape, cancer, the loss of all my family and the ability to bear children of my own, years of chronic physical pain and myriad other health maladies. I've come to embrace all these experiences as a journey of learning and mastery, and ultimately, my initiation into the path of the Wounded Healer. They now are gifts that I draw from to help others find their way Home. |
